OHI Receives Grant from the JTG Foundation

July 19, 2010, Hermon, Maine

OHI is pleased to announce that the Directors of the JTG Foundation have approved a grant of $75,302 to OHI for the implementation of an electronic medical record system to better serve the billing needs of OHI in the short term and to allow for the sharing of medical records among its collaborating partners in the longer term; and for the implementation of a web-based professional development training system to be offered to OHI staff and the staff of other agencies in the greater Bangor region.

Founded by John T. Gorman, Jr. ("Tom") in 1995, the mission of the JTG Foundation is to improve the lives of Maine residents through grant making targeted to its five core focus areas: aiding underprivileged residents, enhancing mental health services, improving care for those suffering from cancer, enhancing the lives of the elderly, and providing for the unmet needs of low income or otherwise disadvantaged children.

Grant dollars are targeted for technology equipment and strategic planning in order to implement an electronic medical record as well as an enhanced, web-based training program for those who support individuals with disabilities.

OHI, a Maine non-profit corporation, supports people with disabilities to live productively in their communities. OHI offers people with disabilities — mental illness, intellectual disabilities, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders or all three — the opportunity to make life choices and set their own goals, and then to provide the resources they need to work toward those goals.

OHI is grateful for the support of the JTG Foundation in supporting this vital opportunity.
