OHI provides support in the home or temporary living situation — with services based on individual needs and life goals — to help people with mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities
- Develop social skills and increase social interaction
- Become involved in their communities through employment as well as educational, volunteer and recreational activities
- Make positive choices, and stay safe and healthy
- Learn to access and make use of community resources, like 12-step programs, and GED programs
- Develop competence in daily living skills and move toward greater independence
- Develop independent living skills: learn how to use public transportation; and develop money-management, meal preparation and personal care skills
- Learn how to manage individual symptoms and stress, problem solve and resolve conflict
- Decrease the likelihood of the need for crisis intervention or hospitalization
- Learn how to be strong self-advocates, in the community and the workplace
