OHI provides support in the home — with services based on individual needs and life goals — to help people with intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness
- Develop daily living skills and move toward greater independence
- Develop social skills and increase social interaction
- Become involved in their communities through employment as well as educational and recreational activities
- Make positive choices, and stay safe and healthy
- Decrease the likelihood of crisis intervention or hospitalization
- Learn to access and make use of community resources, like 12-step programs, and GED programs
- Develop independent living skills: use of public transportation, money-management, meal preparation and personal care
- Learn how to manage individual symptoms and stress, problem solve and resolve conflict
- Learn how to be strong self-advocates, in the community and the workplace
