Prader Willi syndrome is a rare genetic disorder. People with PWS experience a unique set of challenges involving chronic hunger, growth hormone issues, and challenging behaviors different from most people supported under Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities services.
This training will briefly review the scientific information involved with this syndrome, and we will offer staff insightful information of best practices in supporting people with PWS.
The trainer for this course, Leah McAlpine, has collaborated with people with PWS for over 30 years, including supervising PW group homes and decades of direct care work within those homes.
